Before I read India Knight’s post on the subject, this is something I often ponder, though mostly in a musing rather than a worried way. Some things are too obvious to fret about at my age (83) …the menopause, which seems to pbe all the rage now, along with something they have invented since my day, called the peri-menopause. And as it has come up in the natural course of conversation, I may as well have my first and absolutely last say about that here. I was one of a surprisingly large number of women ( you wouldn’t know about them because they’re mostly silent, having nothing to add to the debate) who didn’t have a menopause. Well, I mean, yes of course I did but it was a total non event. Around the age if 50 my periods just stopped. And,er, that was it. No physical symptoms at all, no mental ones either.
